I've had people like you in front of me, who decided to let someone go in front. First, it takes 20 seconds for that person to pull out. Then that person accelerates so slow that any slower they would go backwards. Plus, these 'courteous' drivers are pretty sluggish themselves. Next thing I know I am facing another cycle of red signal, as is everyone else behind me while the person who held us all up and the person he held us up for made it through the intersection.

On the bicycle people who wish to be courteous like this actually put me in danger and are even more annoying.
Drive normally to the rules of the road. We know the rules. When people start turning it into some warm-fuzzy-social-equation we lose effeciency and misunderstandings and conflicts occur.
On several occasions I have had other drivers become enraged because I wouldn't let them take my right of way as enablers and drivers who show "consideration" and other preachers of "just let them do it" had allowed them to so many times that they had built a sense of enbreastlement where the rules of the road clearly state they have none.
