Sir: Let me put it to you this way: Any engineer has to take what he is given and the money he has to spend. Neither of which is easy or infinite. especially in mountainous states with limited budgets.
How much are you willing to spend to build a road. How high shoud the gas tax (or toll) be. If you want expensive highways look at the toll roads around Orlando. The tolls are very high for a short distance.
30,000+ are end every year in the US on the highways. Maybe it is coming down but to my mind it is still a lot. They are end for a variety of reasons but they are still dead.
I don't know offhand if the total number of accidents is increasing or decreasing, but I do know there are a lot of them and sir: an accident is an expensive proposition.
It is expensive both on a personal level and on a social level (in terms of society in general).
I currently drive 200+ miles a day in North Jersey Furthermore in my younger days I drove commercially in NYC. I think I know something about driving. I am not a PE, but I have firsthand knowledge of what it takes to be one. I was a civil engineering major years ago. For a variety of reasons I couldn't do it.
SUV Driver Shot 4229223rem BS. If you haven't seen Mercedes driving 10 mph and-or cruising in the left lane you aren't looking. As for braking...
I am just going to add one thing. I don't know the first thing about you. But as I said I have some driving experience and slower does equal safer. The slower I drive, especially as I get older. the better off I am.
Believe me, I am NOT driving 45 in the left lane of the NJ turnpike, I have a job to do and I think I do it pretty well, but I am not doing 80 like a lot of people. I happen to think these people doing 80+ don't realize what can and does happen at those speeds, and sir, you cannot deny that.
