I don't think he is "admiting" anything. He's describing his current vehicle situation. So what?
I think people should seek ways to be more efficient in their getting around, but I don't think anyone should be forced along any particular route. If someone wants to buy an SUV that's there business. But governments should encourage more efficient vehciles through grants for research and tax breaks on especially thrifty vehicles. I tend to agree with those who have an anti-Econazi sentiment. A bunch of granola-munching tree huggers trying to dictate one's every move.
But it does make good sense, and is probably patriotic to wean oneself and family off of excessive use of oil. Bush and company secured the oil first when they went into Iraq. THEY SECURED THE OIL FIRST. The OIL was their NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. It's for the oil the troops are dying. Bush, Cheney and Haliburton couldn't give a rat's butt about democracy for Iraq. It just part of the ruse they conjured to justify the war and go in and secure the oil fields. There were no weapons of mbutt destruction .. ... but there is a lot of oil.
Anyway, if you want to be a friend to the hardpressed American soldier don't be an oil glutton giving people like Bush reason to be all interested in oil soaked countries like Kuwait and Iraq. Do you think if Kuwait and Iraq were oil-less, if it had been Zaire and Tanzania instead, do you then think that the USA would have gone and fought two extraordinarily expensive wars? NO. Do you think it is coincidence that the President comes from an oil family? Is a big friend of Saudi Arabia and the bin Laden family? Puts the big oil interests first?
Is it any surprise that the price of oil is skyrocketing under President Bush's watch?
