Careless Driving in NJ
I was in an accident last week. I was driving in heavy rain. I was not speeding. I saw the truck in front of...

neutral blasting
I friend of mine told me about something he called "neutral blasting." He said that when driving a car with an automatic transmission, you can turn off the emergency lights of a police car...

In fact, not only am I counting on it, I'm calling in my markers. How much was the wager again?

BALTIMORE (AP) - The streets of Baltimore keep getting darker--because someone is making off with the light poles.

They're 30 feet high and weigh 250 pounds, and yet about 130 of them have vanished this fall.

City officials say the thieves sometimes disguise themselves as utility crews, and put orange traffic cones around the poles to avoid suspicion. Police say the thieves could be stealing the aluminum poles to sell as scrap metal.

They say people have been ripping metal pipes, radiators and wires out of vacant houses for years.

Local salvage yards haven't reported seeing any of stolen poles. But one salvage yard manager says she wouldn't be surprised. Lynn Smith says "they steal everything here in Baltimore." The light poles cost the city 750 dollars each.

Scrap aluminum brings 30 to 35 cents a pound.

The poles cost $750 each, NOT $156,000. Like I said, a misprint or bad journalism. And if you're wondering, always being right does get to be burden sometimes, but it beats the alternative.
