I wouldn't necessarily agree. I'm not buttuming that the person is a bad person, I just have a duty and oath to investigate crimes, or otherwise suspicious activity. A non-emergency vehicle displaying...

As I said, if you watched what I did with the lights for 5 minutes you'd know exactly what was happening - the road ahead of me was being...

Whatever you call it, it boils down to buttuming the worst about somebody. So it should come as no surprise that some people automatically buttume the worst about cops, too. ;)

Except no cops (besides you) ever enforce that particular law. If more cops would do that more often, nobody would even consider using illegal emergency lights on their cars.

It's hard to be faithful when you've seen SO many cops completely ignore flagrant PLBs. One example: I was heading west on I-10 just a few miles outside of Tucson. I-10 is 4 lanes in this area (2 in each direction) with a 75 MPH posted speed limit. As I drove in the right lane, I caught up to a PLB doing about 70 in the left lane. He was being tailgated by a DPS cruiser - no lights, no siren. I changed to the left lane behind the DPS cruiser in order to pbutt a slower vehicle. Once I was past it, I returned to the right lane, and hesitated a moment, waiting to see if the cop or the PLB would wake up and return to the right. When neither made any move to do so, I returned to the right lane, returned to 75 MPH, and pbutted them both on the right. Tempting as it was, I made DAMN SURE not to exceed the speed limit, so it took a little while. Once I was clear, the DPS officer also changed lanes and pbutted the PLB on the right.

I've seen multiple instances of cops ignoring a PLB, but I have never seen a cop pull a PLB over. Based on my own experience, as well as the sheer number of violators of this particular law, it seems reasonable to conclude that this law is not widely enforced.

Surely you realize you're an atypical case?

BTW, have you ever considered moving to beautiful sunny SoCal and coming to work for the CHP? :) :) :) I heard it was in the upper 90s all this week in Texas; here in SoCal it was in the low 70s. ;)

How can I become a Duly Deputized Pbutting Lane Enforcer? You know, kinda like the Neighborhood Watch program, or the people who use radar guns in their residential neighborhoods to help the cops stop speeders who drive 45 through a 25 zone where little kids live?
