Sorry... Roadcraft system question again. 5534

Quite. And with practice it will become so second nature that your hands will only move just the right amount so that throughout the turn they will be level on the wheel ready to move instantly for any correction.

It is one of the most common problems when trying to get someone to get back to feeding from all that horrible arm crossing and waving. They tend to 'shuffle' in small movements and find that they cannot steer quickly enough.

Correct, it should be "Brakes to slow, then gears to go". Changing down and slowing on the gearbox only means that you are braking on only the driving wheels. This is a bad habit to get into since the car is not properly balanced and you are likely to be caught out if you do it on a slippery surface.

Quite. It's not about the actual mechanics of changing gear1, it's about a consistent, systematic approach to hazards. It's about *when* you change, not *how*.

1 How does come into it but only in relation to when.
