Sorry... Roadcraft system question again. 5565

i almost always slow down with my brakes and my gears. Obviously an emergency stop would just be the brakes and clutch, but lowing with the brakes and the gears is far more effective in my opinion.

As for the clutch, the clutch can be used when you want to keep the car on the bite, but doing so will wear down your clutch quicker, especially on steep inclines. There is a car park in my loacl town that has an incline that is ridiculously steep. There are many times that you find people hovering on the clutch, revving hard, and spinning the wheels just for 5 feet of movement, then stopping. The hand-brake is essential in this case.

When aproaching a hazard such as a round about, you should be travelling at a safe speed anyway. If you are exceeding the speed limit then you will most certainly be making the easiest of round-abouts a hazard. Braking early is normally the best method, as you make the deceleration longs and slow and smooth, as opposed to speed into the hazard, brake hard and then accelerate at the earliest opportunity.

It is amazing how many people you see putting themselves and their car at risk to save 5 seconds at a junction-round-about etc.
