Define 'excessive'. I can drive at 90mph and it's a perfectly safe speed, no tailgating, no weaving, no MLOC.
Then they should be pulled, but it's not something which can be spotted by robot, so it's too difficult for the police these days.

Now you've learned how useless the advisories are. Really, if people did take any notice of them there would be several horrible accidents. I've often been told to slow to 30mph on an empty 4 lane motorway, there were no obstructions whatsoever, at least not for the 100 miles further I did.
Very true. I do keep to roadworks speed limits however, especially during the day when there are likely to be workers there.
Due respect but you've had what, one motorway journey, You still don't have any idea about motorways whatsoever. When you've done 10,000+ miles of motorway driving then you might be able to comment with authority.
