Speed Humps "Save Lives". Allegedly. 5232

Adrian - Tim shot - precise

I wonder how much they've reduced the number of crashes? 'baneities' only account for a small number of accidents. If people slow up for humps and crash the chance of baneities is going to be a lot lower than if they were driving at full speed. I think most of us hate them!

Is it really worth spending thousands of pounds to save just a few lives (mostly chavs lives anyway)? Politicians seem to think it is, but I think it's a waste of money. We've all got to accept that we're going to die at some point, and there is no point spending loads of money just for a few lives. We need to consider the big picture, and not just focus on small roads with some grumpy old granny complaining about speeding. Improving drivers abilities-knowledge should show improvements everywhere, and should improve statistics all over the UK, not just on the occasional road.

speed

Maybe the 'idiots' have more non-bane accidents, and are in hospital so that they can't cause bane accidents?

PeterE It's also residents and their visitors who encounter the discomfort-minor injuries from driving over them all the time, and who have to put up with extra noise, and whose emergency services are...

savings?

I don't know, but I'd rather get rid of the humps, and loose a few lives. There would probably be a significant reduction in pollution etc too, which would lead to better health.
