Without speed bumps that could be 50 mph with some in narrow urban roads. And I live just next to one such. The speed humps slow *everyone* down. No argument. Or statistics. If all drivers stuck to a sensible speed - like 30 mph tops, there would have been no need for the speed bumps.
Bollocks. The road above had serious (pedestrian) accidents near every week before the speed bumps. Doesn't now.
For cars, possibly. In residential streets I'm far more concerned about pedestrians. I don't give a toss about X5s thumping Range Rovers.
Then you might be a responsible driver. Unfortunately, many ain't. And I'm *very* surprised you haven't witnessed this yourself. I'd suggest walking around some urban streets - you'll soon change your mind.
Err, I don't want the residential road I live in 'improved' for traffic flow. And I'll warrant you don't want the road you live in to be either.
I don't want *any* through traffic in it at all. But being realistic will settle for vehicles being limited to about 20 mph.
Boil away, pet.
They'd have been far better with speed humps. Chicanes simply challenge boy racers. No chicanes that let through trucks, etc, will keep a decent car under 30 mph. And, of course, when the boy racers lose it, they'll do so into the oncoming traffic.
I'm amazed that one who has the sense to choose a decent OS doesn't extend this to observing-understanding urban traffic?
