In no particular order 1. Driving with front fog lights on when there absolutely is no need. 2...

I used to drive into central Stockport along a "decent" link road - the "main road" being substantially out of the way. However, this link road fans out into three older residential streets nearer the town centre. In the interests of fairness, all three are speed-humped. Most traffic uses two, buses are routed down the third. On all, it would be very difficult and generally dangerous to maintain 30 anyway. Are we all "rat-running", including the bus operators ?

Hasn't he? Personally, I think he should. In terms of social decency. Ie on city streets (which I hate driving on), I would prefer to take it easy and...

It's interesting to look at a map and wonder why some roads follow the routes that they do - around here it is quite clear that they have been constrained in certain areas by railway lines. The main line to London is a reasonable candidate for priority, but the two single-track lines that carry a couple of trains a day appear to be a noticeable nuisance. However, all that is history. Having visited the States often, although the grid system they prefer can seem mind-numbingly tedious, there's no doubt that traffic can be made to flow freely as a result. We are probably stuck for ever with legacies from the past.

-- I think, there for I am... so what's your excuse?
