It looks like old dad didn't do much to prevent the speeding. Both of you should stop dwelling on the money and be grateful you didn't end up in one of these news articles.

Carl Taylor Since I know my pal Chuck doesn't check in here much any more, I'll come to his defense with...

Most regular posters in this newsgroup only care about what you can get away with on the road, not worst-case scenarios or how one's own driving affects others. It's as selfish a bunch as I've ever encountered. They'll tell you over and over that speed laws are just a revenue conspiracy with no historical or actuarial basis. The evidence shows the opposite if one cares to read it (like the news link above). If you can't believe real life, what can you believe? You can filter it out but it's always there, waiting for your luck to run dry.

I think the driving age should be raised to 18, when kids have a slightly greater sense of mortality. Then again, many adults have little respect for risk and continue to drive like delinquents until their 30s, 40s or 50s. They take the same pointless risks but get more crafty about avoiding detection. They think it's a big skill to drive like an idiot and endanger the public without paying a fine.

Quote:

"Hearing "aggressive driving" makes me think of my own driving. My natural driving style involves maneuvers that might scare the crap out of nearby drivers unless they buttume that I'm fairly skillful."
