Hey now, you are touching a nerve when you talk about my car. My car is not slow just because I don't drive with a lead foot. The speedometer goes up to 160 miles per hour and the engine limiter is at 120 mph, so yes, it can do that speed. It has a 0-60 acceleration comparable to a Corolla or Civic, and faster pbutting acceleration (35-50 mph and 35-50 mph) than many gbutters because it has more torque at a lower RPM (the car shifts around 1900-2200 RPM)- a diesel doesn't have to downshift to get the torque for pbutting.

Some folks do performance mods to their TDI's and they can routinely smoke sports cars that take them for granted. If you think diesels are slow, you should check out this dragster running 100 percent biodiesel: relatively quietly and is street legal, and was able to tow its own support trailer to the proving grounds.
The real benefit of my diesel car though is when I go to fuel up- it only costs me about half of what it costs some shmuck in an SUV would pay. I get about 36-42 mpg with No 2 diesel and a little lower with 50 percent biodiesel (which is what I'm currently running), but most of my driving is closer to city than highway.
