Not where I'm from. NSW Govt figures show that in only 2% of all bane crashes was any of the vehicles involved exceeding the speed limit for that stretch of road.
57% of drivers in the UK exceed their 70mph motorway limit. 58% exceed the 30mph urban limit. In only 7% of baneities were any of the vehicles involved speeding.
Why would the US be far different from Australia and the UK? Why don't you focus on real road safety issues.
The following link shows international motorway baneity rates in the yr 2000.

Notice that the rest rate per billion vehicle km on US interstates is higher than that of Germany's autobahns. The average interstate speed limit in the US is 65 - 75 mph right? The 85th percentile on German autobahns is 95mph, yet their baneity rate is lower than the US interstates... odd, seeing as traveling fast is automatically life threatening?
People DIE because of the number of idiots who can't drive yet are allowed on the road. People DIE because of typically extremely poor driver training in most Western societies. People DIE because they fall asleep at the wheel when on a long trip and obeying a ridiculously low speed limit. People DIE because drivers are lead to believe that the speed limit is the only safe speed to travel at, when traveling at the speed limit in certain situations can be incredibly dangerous. People DIE because more and more are adopting the atbreastude that driving is a waste of time, therefor try to carry out other tasks while driving, and end up not paying enough attention to the life threatening task at hand.
All the websites I've linked above don't use ridiculously poor, amateur animated gifs to prove their point.
Does that make more sense sweetheart?

Speedjunkies: selfimage vs. reality 2493Carl Taylor I guess you are referring to how you keep banging on about "more kinetic energy = more damage". Carl, nobody disagrees with you on this point. The problem is...
