I'm quite comfortable that the legislature in combination with the highway department and state police are making a fact-based decision on speed limits. You may not like it and may want to drive faster, but you don't have a choice. The collective we, aka the majority has made a fact based decision and you gotta abide by it or pay the price.
I've heard guys like you before...after the fact trying to justify their unsafe driving habits that netted them a handful of tickets.
See above - each state has a raft of professionals making these decisions my friend. I pay them to make such informed choices so I don't have to.
Naw, it just indicates that the law isn't being enforced stiffly enough.
Catch 'em and give 'em so jail time. Mt guess is the guys that make that kind of choice are probably young and unmarried with no responsibilities. Otherwise why would someone make such a self-centered decision....
Oh I care very much so. And the way to make roads safe is to discourage drivers from driving too fast or recklessly. It's simple - most of these hot shots you see flying down the road really have one skill - they can push on the gas pedal. Get them into any kind of a panic situation and they don't know what to do. For my and other drivers safety they need to be slowed down to the legal speed limit. I really don't care if they kill themselves by slamming into a tree at 90mph. I do care very much if they slam into me at 90 mph. If it takes bankruptcy-level fines and points to get their attention, so be it. Eventually they will change their behaviour, lose their license or run out of money paying fines. It's their choice.
