I've seen people stop in lots of stupid places to answer mobile phones. At roundabouts (they park as far left in the lane as possible and stick their hazards on)
It always seems to happen the most on the main road through the town centre, here. It's a three lane road (two lanes for one way, the other lane for the opposite way) with a no stopping restriction on each side. Yet all the time there is some numpty parked up with his hazards on merrily chatting away.
Whatever happened to "finding a safe, convenient and legal place to stop" ?
Yesterday's idiot was doing something completely different but equally dangerous, perhaps more so.
Travelling along an NSL single carriageway road, and we've just come away from a roundabout so both myself and the car ahead are accelerating up to NSL. We are at about 45 to 50 mph when the car in front notices a talivan parked on the side of the road with the rear facing toward us.
He slammed the brakes on and dropped down to 30.
Fortunately I was prepared for this as I'm so used to seeing people brake idiotically the moment they see a speed camera. The fact that he slowed down so dramatically then started to make me wonder whether it WAS an NSL road or whether I'd just missed a speed limit sign somewhere. Got me quite worried until we entered a 40 zone not too long after and I saw the good old black stripe in my rear view mirror ;)
