Terrorism' alert on the motorway

The Times October 20, 2005

'Terrorism' alert on the motorway By Stewart Tendler A student was stopped and searched under the Terrorism Act for taking photographs of the M3 for a company's brochure.

Matthew Curtis, 21, a student at Southampton Solent University who works part-time for the company, was told by police that he was in a "vulnerable area". Mr Curtis said that he been taking pictures of a bridge from a grbutt verge beside the M3 for a map the company was producing to show clients how to reach their offices.

Cynic That's not what he stated, he posted the following: "Its the crash barrier that runs up the middle of the carriageway on a motorway...

He said that after the police pulled up, "I couldn't believe my ears when . . . they said they were warning me under the Terrorism Act. I doubt very much that bin Laden is in his cave in Afghanistan plotting to blow up a small bridge over the M3."

The Hampshire force said: "We are sorry if this caused any concern to the person involved, however it is critical that we remain vigilant." ========================================================================

You just couldn't make it up!

When are the police going to realise that they are their own worst enemies?

When are they going to realise that not all the public are complete idiots? Most people can see through the person hysteria and see what a crock it is.

Note the usual "fcuk off" answer from the Police in the last sentence. -- Mr X
