This kind of driving by some HGV's is one of the biggest annoyances on motorways these days. Over the years I have learnt to deal with tail-gaters and all the other appalling driving types we get, but WHY O WHY do some HGV drivers do this? I cannot remember it happening 15-20 years ago. Of all the drivers on the road they should know better, than to attempt to overtake at their limit and especially when a hill is coming up. I can just about accept it if we are coming to a downhill stretch when they can get past in a reasonable time - even if they slow us all down to 55 for a short while, but please don't indicate and pull out into my path when I am just overtaking your rear bumper. All I can suggest for the poor sods behind is keep back far enough so the HGV can see you in his mirrors and far enough back to give them the chance to drop back into lane 1. Although I've not found many take this option and most arrogantly carry on blocking the road for miles on end. I'm hesitant to say it is dangerous driving this way, but it is not safe driving either and certainly causes everyone to slow down unexpectedly and bunching of traffic until hopefully everyone settles down to a safe distance.
