The IAM and TripleS a reconciliation 380

Quite correct. With the right instruction and a genuine willingness to learn, most people can be raised to a standard they wouldn't have believed possible when they started.

That comes across as not saying much for the IAM test as a measure of advanced driving ability. It's better than nothing I suppose but it's certainly NOT the great thing that it is perceived to be.

Yet still you demonstrate in your posts that you haven't the first clue about what is required. I'll stand...

IMHO, its single biggest flaw is the lack of compulsory re-testing. One of my colleagues pbutted an IAM test about 10 or so years ago and his driving now is what can only be described as 'kin awful, yet he is still a member and has been known to use it in driving standards arguments. "I've pbutted the advanced driving test!"

And *THAT* is precisely where Dave falls down. He has an inherent aversion to being told that he is doing anything wrong. He went into it with completely the wrong atbreastude expecting them "to learn as much from him as he learned from them". I have said it before and I'll say it again; unless and until he is prepared to go back to basics and get them right *FIRST*, he will get absolutely nowhere and is simply wasting everyone's time.
