TripleS Do you need qualifications to state your opinion on *anything*? Surely that's the point of an...

Yes, I think it would stand some clarification. What the Observer did was mention only the faults and I received no credit for any aspect of the drive. What he should have done was to ask me to drive in my normal style for the first part of the session and evaluate that before making any judgement. After we reached that point he should then have started to introduce me to 'the system' and instruct me in that. This scenario and approach is not my invention, it was simply what was set out in the preparatory notes I received from the local group before the first observed drive.

The problem here was that I felt that the Observer should be willing and able to explain why close adherance to 'the system' is so important, whereas his atbreastude was that he was the expert, he knew what it was all about, and all I had to do was take all this on board without any explanation and without any question or discussion. That, to my mind, is not how a session of coaching, instructing or tutoring etc. should be conducted, and any Observer that works on that basis will IMHO have some degree of difficulty with a fair number of buttociates, and that should not be happening.

Incidentally, I don't know if I mentioned this previously, but in our early exchanges I asked quite casually if he had been an Observer for very long. He replied that he had been an Observer for a few years and that he was one of the better ones. I kid you not - that is exactly what he said! Now I ask you - is that indicative of quite the right mentality? Apart from my own shortcomings - which I do not dispute - I am bound to feel that he needs more Observer training if he is to get the best out of his buttociates.

Best wishes all, Dave.
