Doesn't matter. Any reasonable person would know that if you suddenly disappear without telling a soul a handful of days before your wedding, that the police and others will be looking for you. In addition, her face was plastered all over every TV station and newspaper for days, so it's not as if it was a simple misunderstanding.
Moreso, police were still being used AFTER they "found" her, as she gave a detailed description of her "abductors" to authorities and 911 in which could have resulted in innocent people being implicated.
Lastly, her actions were premeditated. This wasn't someone who flipped her lid; she bought her bus ticket days before his disappearance. She planned the whole damn thing.
It caused $60,000 of tax payer money to be blown, not zero. Besides monetary damages, her actions caused a number of resources to be used up when they could have been used to help people in actual distress. Whether or not she filed a report is irrelevant.
I can't believe you people are defending this criminal. Let's hope that you or a family member doesn't need help when the resources are being redirected to a phony disappearance.
