Actually I was hoping you wouldn't! ;-(

So? That is an entirely different matter from being "un"safe. There are thousands of driving situations encountered by drivers every day that are less safe than others. We still do them... pbutting, speeding, changing lanes, merging. Understand here that what I am saying is *not* that it is safe to drive next to a semi. In fact, millions of drivers do it safely every day.

Besides, Arif, you as a speeder are *not* avoiding being in close proximity to other drivers. In fact, you are often more in proximity to a mulbreastude more drivers than I am as an obeyer of the speed limits. When you speed and pbutt dozens of cars and trucks, you're Actually taking chances with the broad range of driving habits, some good some bad, of every driver you shoot by at a 20+ mph differential.

I do not grant at all your premise that you are not in close proximity. I stay near one or two; you shoot by dozens. We're all on the same road, your distance from others is no different. Your thinking that you are not close is a faulty premise. Particularly in the situations of which you often complain, when you come upon slower traffic in the left lane.

Depends on what you mean by "crowded". If you mean "bumper to bumper", no. But in conditions which are slightly less heavy, traffic tends to consist of clumps of heavy traffic separated by clear space...

It *is* what you do. The person following must keep his distance. Nothing about being in a flow of traffic negates the need to maintain a proper following distance. Besides, putting you as a speeder in the middle of this maximizes the risk of igniting this melee.

This is a volume problem, not a problem born of maintaining a good flow of traffic. You as a speeder also have nowhere to go when you're pbutting all the KRETP folks. There is nothing about a platoon going along within a 10+-- range that dictates they must all be tailgating. For you to buttume this is the case with slower speeds but not true if you throw speeders into the mix isn't logical. Speeders, by the very nature of what they're doing, are continually catching up to slower traffic and closing those distances.

Garth Almgren Not doubtful at all in this discussion, as we have been using "speeder...

I do not grant you that premise. Maintaining proper distance is not something that only happens when people speed (in fact, it may or may not happen in that case too). Maintaining distance or tailgating can exist under either scenario - maintaining common flow or speeders weaving in and out.

I think that other fellow's purpose is merely to troll for response; he's shown no interest in actual discussion.
