No, I wasn't buttuming anything of the sort. I buttumed a range of circumstances including the scenario you outline. It doesn't change the outcome of my examples.

It doesn't work any better than simply maintaining a fairly steady flow of traffic. You're stil stuck in the false premise that speeders don't get close to other traffic as often as those who maintain the flow. That's an illogical conclusion from your premises. Steady flow with proper following distances is not unsafe; speeding through the pack, weaving in and out under the notion that this enables you to *stay away* from the very cars you're speeding around, is both illogical and potentially very unsafe.

All that you said above applies to the very safe drivers who maintain a steady flow of traffic. They too speed up and slow down with the platoon and keep their distances and maneuvering options. Why on earth would you suggest that throwing a speeder into this mix is *safer?* He's constantly coming closer to dozens of other unpredictable drivers, than is the person keeping his spot.

Most places, someone who is keeping with the flow of traffic is a "speeder." 'Cause in a little while, they'll reach the start of the "clump" and pbutt...

False dilemma. One does not *maintain* the speed of the platoon yet fail to change his speed when the platoon speeds up or slows down. He is not unsafe. You can't have it both ways.
