Yeah, In germany driving is taken seriously and is a task in and of it's self that one's full attention should be on. In the USA, driving is something do while eating,drinking,shaving,and reading. That, and any half-brained cat has the intelligence to be allowed to drive in the USA.
There's no need to separate them any more than there is a need to separate sections of interstate. The autobahn doesn't have revenue driven speed limits. I compare the model of unlimited sections and properly set speed limits where needed by engineering method to the 'speed kills' religon driven method of the USA.
And the 85th percentile speed is 96mph as of a few years ago.

Which goes to show the speed limit signs are not relevant to anything.

Why should a speed limit pulled out of someone's butt be considered relevant?
Because they weren't pulled out of someone's butt. When I drove in Germany I started out with that nasty US habbit of checking the speed limit. Turns out my natural speed for the road was always at or below the posted limits. Here in the USA, the natural speed is almost always greater than the speed limit.
