Night driving stopping distance on dipped headlights 5608
Daytona explained on 13-05-2005 : At the risk of even more flack, I'll advise on my method of dealing with...

MrBitsy formulated the question :

The double quick look I take is the final check before proceeding. The problem I find at junctions with restricted distance vision, is that if your look is a a slow one, then whilst you are taking that slow look it can be very easy for something to appear coming the other way.

I was behind a female driver with three pbuttengers at one such difficult and busy local T junction a few minutes ago. She did all the looking to the right, while her front seat pbuttenger relayed what she could see from the left. It took her several missed opportunities and the best part of five minutes before she finally got out and turned right. I guess she had more confidence in her pbuttenger than I would have had, because she never looked left at all relying entirely on her pbuttengers feedback. I hope her pbuttenger didn't suffer from a stutter ;-)

I learned a long time ago, that it is sometimes easier and often much safer to turn left, if you want to turn right - then find a way to turn back so you are going in the right direction.
