And an update...
------------
This Morning 1535I've tried to do that as fairly as I can, using quotes from the original posting. Please...
Before 'phoning 999, van driver behind van driver and Saab driver and I get woman out of nova and switch off engine - this involved van driver pulling woman out through windscreen opening after Saab driver and I had put on gloves to remove glbutt.
Actually, I walked up the filthette and said "Good morning - I am the person who 'phoned the emergency services" to which she replied "I hope you were using a hands free or were stationary at the moment in time when you made the call."Ê Then the Nova driver chipped in and started telling the filthette that it was the Saab driver's fault.Ê I stepped back about 2 metres to let them get on with it and the filthette said, "Where d'ya fink you're goin'?Ê No-one is to leave the scene until authorised to do so." So I stood there while Nova driver blames Saab driver and then me. Filthette then asks me to "...answer these serious allegations..." so I point out the tyre marks and scratches on nearside of car (relatively undamaged) and state that these are consistent with my description of events.Ê Saab driver tries to confirm my description but it told to shut up by filthette. I raise my eyebrows to Saab driver and am asked by filthette, "What's your problem?"
This Morning 1533were saying : And another... ---------------------- An apology - offered politely enough - and accepted.Ê Filthette offered by way of explanation that...
It went downhill from then.
This Morning 1536I agree we all should be allowed to make our own decisions, and its great that Adrian's friends can argue the toss. If...
At no time was I discourteous.Ê Their atbreastude was wrong from the outset (the comment about the 'phone) and I don't have to put up with rudeness.
I have just had a 'phone call from the local nick - a superintendent - who said, "I am 'phoning you to apologise for the manner in which you were treated this morning following an RTA which you witnessed.Ê I have had a report from Traffic and understand that you were wrongly issued with a Notice To Produce which has now been cancelled.Ê I am at a loss to explain why my officers behaved the way they did although I would add that policing is very stressful."
I did not respond to this with "If they can't take the pressure, perhaps they should find another job." but thanked him.
He then told me that he had instructed the two officers to apologise to me and would it be alright if they called on me at "eleven hundred hours a.m." to do so.Ê I said I didn't really see the need to which he replied (conveniently ignoring the fact that but 30 seconds earlier he had told me he had instructed them to apologise) "Oh, they really want to say sorry."
And a Frod Fucus with blue lights on its roof has just pulled up outside.
