This guy didnt look.... 1677

When I went pbutted earlier, it looked like it could cause confusion.

The M8 has a slip which becomes the 2 lane M9, the slip road was cut down to one lane, with an unused hard shoulder. Once the traffic was down to one lane, there were signs saying "Use hard shoulder", but most people stayed in the old L1 (now L2), since there was little benefit to moving over.

Some traffic then joined at the first on slip, then more at the next split. At that point the hard shoulder ends, turns into (blacked out) chevrons, then cuts into the end of the slip road which becomes the new L1 (with the hard shoulder again unused). After about 1-2 mile, L2 (and L3 once the cones stop) carry on as the 2 lane M9, and L1 turns into an off-slip for the A8000.

I'm not sure if there were give way lines actually painted on the slip road (it was dark), but I could see how someone could think the slip continued on as normal, without realising there were cars driving along the hard shoulder. The large Give Way sign was a clue, though...

Putting your ego away
slower back', 'hand and Yes, I often say that my travels are virtually hbuttle free, but I must admit I came unstuck this morning on the A1 southbound in West...
