That said, I might just change it to avoid the aggro. On the other hand I might just unsubscribe from the group altogether. Things have gone so far downhill here of late that I just can't be arsed with it anymore. It's just the same old threads thrashed out over and over again and it's always the same people on each side trotting out the same arguments. Invariably, discussion descend into argument and then into slanging matches (yes, I hold up my hand as prime proponent). It's certainly not fun anymore.

Not quite sure what you're getting at there but the contents of personal email accounts are considered private communications by law. Even in the course of my work I am not allowed to look in a users email account without their permission (there are exceptions but they are complex). It is not quite true that employers have the divine right to just look at all email as they see fit and believe me, the Uni does NOT have a slack AUP.
