That is very good advice. It is mainly a problem when there is no other traffic about or when people look the wrong way at a clear section of road and then move off right into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

All true. Belgium also has a lethal mix of real priorite a droite driving in major cities coupled with near a near suicidal "brave Belgian driver" mentality. Some places are notorious for accident frauds using priobreaste a droite to get a write-off. Tailgating is a national pbutttime on the motorways, and they have a name for people who drive the wrong way round the Brussels ring motorway (literally ghost driver).

Certain roundabouts like Montgomery are notorious for accident frauds. And there are still a few roundabouts with priorite a droite in Belgium. Their most dangerous motorway junction near Tervuren (an at grade two motorway crossroads) at E411-R0 kills around 50 people per year.

By comparison French motorways are a dream to drive except during the annual summer madness.
