There seems to be some particular stupidity that affects horsebox drivers. A fortnight ago I was driving through the centre of a local village. The road was clear on my side, parked vehicles on the other side of the road.
I pbutted the first parked vehicle and had a line of about 10 to pbutt. A woman driving a pantechnicon style horse box came around the bend ahead, and simply swerved out and headed straight at me, no attempt to give way as she should. Instead of slowing she drove straight at the front of my car. I had nowhere to go, no pavement and a stream to my nearside, so I stopped expecting her to stop - err no, she simply drove on straight at me. I managed to reverse away from her, hoping to god nothing would come up the road behind me.
Once past the cars with enough room for her to pbutt, I stopped and waited. She also stopped. To apologise? No, to f' and blind and insult my heritage and that of my domestic livestock from here unto the fifth generation in a plummy Surrey accent. I pointed out that she was obliged to give way and she told me that was f***ing stupid because she had HORSES don't cha know. Then she engaged first and f***ed off.
