I watched "Earth Story" the Aubrey Manning documentary on geology tonight. I was left with the feeling at the end of it that "global warming" really is a storm in a tea cup. And that all the enviro whining is over blown bollocks. The planet is currently the coldest that it has been since 300 million years ago. Over the last million years although the ice has advanced and retreated 10 times, temperatures have continued on a downward trend to the present day. There is fossil evidence (foraminfera in Atlantic mud) that the rate of warming and cooling of the earth was much more rapid in the past, with swings of 12C in average global temperature over a 1000 year cycle, and those rapid oscillations go back 20 million years. The last 25,000 years has been unusually quiet in terms of the climate, but even so wwe have had minor ice ages and warming on pretty much the same 1 - 2000 year cycles.
And as he said in summary, global climate change is a fact of life on planet earth.
So. I'll keep driving my car(s) and Blair can f*** off.
