Too bad it didn't have torque boxes and there was rust in those frame rail joints. Still, a lot of good parts on that car, and it can be fixed, it will just cost considerably more than the car is worth money wise.
I just got my mustang back a couple weeks ago. 16 year old kid turned left 5 feet in front of me. Thankfully I was only going 18mph at the time. Damage was all cosmetic but expensive. I drove it with my old headlamp wired back in and used the turn signal-marker lamp from my long departed '75 maverick until everything got sorted out.
I hate to say this, but I think you are going to need a lawyer for this I'm sure. I am glad you are doing well overall, but please do yourself a favor and put the belts in the next pre-seatbelt mandate car you buy before you start driving it. My '73 has the 2piece 3 point belts and they do well in a collision, they just lack freedom of movement to reach under the dash and stuff one shouldn't be doing anyway. I don't drive it much anymore. The levels of competence and MFFYism make it scary with the bigger 4 wheel drums it has. Although with the tires I have on it now I am getting everything I can out of the system.
It will complicate things greatly.
