TrafficMaster

Not driving related but I want your advice
As I "know" you all after 4 years on thr group, I would appreciate some advice. Over the last month, 3 of my sons mates have decided to shout and...

Xantia- and many others have it as standard. Costs £30 a year. Voice warnings of traffic holdups on motorways and major roads. It's nothing to do with sat nav-TrafficMaster gets its' information from roadside detectors (those tall blue posts) that read number plates and calculate their speed through sections of highway, then shouts the information at you through the radio speakers-even if the radio is switched off. "You are driving south on M6 near junction 19. M6 southbound, slow traffic for two miles between junctions 17 and 16,-expect five minutes delay. M6 Northbound- Traffic flowing freely". Satellite Navigation (mine is a Garmin Street Pilot3- old fashioned now) is a magnificent piece of equipment that shows where you are, navigates to your destination with colour screen display and voice prompts, and gives an onscreen countdown to the next turn-both in time and distance. Press a button and it doubles as a speed and distance computer,-with an accurate current speed display (always a bit slower than shown on a speedometer), plus many other features which have made long continental journeys a pleasure since swmbo no longer tries to fathom a paper map. Also has points of interest built in, everything from hotels and eating places to entertainment and petrol stations. DaveK.
