1. No where did anyone mention that the Police requested the truckers to block the suspect's car - and I am surprised that they would endanger civilians in this manner. Its a good thing I am not their boss. Truckers are not trained for this sort of thing. Criminals are unpreditible. If the Police truly asked for this, it was terrible judgement on their part.
2. The police could have ended it by just stopping themselves. Initiating a a high speed chase of a suspected drunk driver is an insane manuver. They were lucky no one was end. I thought you guys in California had helicopters to track the criminals.
3. You are wrong about diesel fuel. If you want to start a fire, it is much eaiser to start one with diesel fuel than gasoline. And burns hotter too.
4. So if it is so stoutly divided, why didn't the police set up their own road block ahead of the suspect instead of initiating a dangerous pursuit?
5. So you would feel much better if the chase results in the rest of innocent bystanders? You buttume the only way to catch the "bad guys" is to run them down. Seems like sloppy Police tactics to me.
Use your head, two or more cars making dangerous high speed manuevers on a busy street is a lot more dangerous than tracking the criminal quietly and waiting for a chance to corner him safely. I am not saying that all high speed pursuits are wrong, but many are. And this particular one certainly seems to be one of them. Do you really think people on the road were safer becasue the Police initiated a high speed chase than if they had just let the suspect go? How many rests is an old Saturn worth? If the guy was drunk, were the citizens of California better off with the "drunk" driving at high speed in traffic?
