Virginia. And no, I wouldn't. This area needs some more development, no matter how the rest of the people around here try to prevent it. They can also, if they wish, build a nuclear power plant across the street from where I live. Maybe then the damn lights won't go out if there's a lightning stroke somewhere within 50 miles of my house.
Hell, I grew up 1 block from a really dirty carbon products plant in Fostoria, Ohio. Everyone in Fostoria, just about, grew up within a block or two of some factory. There's factories all over that town. And guess what - life was just great. It is a fallacy that says we must put the factories over there, and the living quarters over here, and force people to drive miles to get to work. That's another thing that is simply wrong-think about this nonsense of thinking we all have to have absolutely pristine air and no industrial noise and etc. A few people with lung problems might need some specific places they need to have clean so they can live, but 99% of everyone else can do just fine with a lot more exposure to industry, traffic, noise, etc. We just can't have, and shouldn't try to have, the environment of a deep forest.
The only way to reduce demand is to give up some form of recreation. That is the only way to reduce demand, since the rest if it consists of going to work or the grocery and must be performed no matter what. Reducing demand for me would mean I don't get to drive the 40 mile round trip to town most nights to go to the health club or go see movies. That sucks. It just makes you a robot that is more or less owned by the state, for the state's benefit. Work, make money for the state, and when you're not doing that, you're under house arrest. Screw that.
