Don't be silly. Ordinary cars are not designed to tow, they are designed to appeal to drivers in normal situations, and to meet road safety legislation.
The ability to tow is very much an afterthought.

there is a BIG difference between being designed to have the ability to tow, and being designed for towing.
An Artic tractor is designed for towing. It is what it will do for all its working life.
So are certain other vehicles. But the vast majority of vehicles are not.
And lots don't. And many caravanners are not members of either club, and have never had any training in their lives.
I would be very surprised indeed if it were not a large majority who have never been on a training course relating to caravanning.
All *modern* caravans have a reasonable braking system - provided it is maintained properly, which is often not the case.
There really *should* be MOTs for caravans.
