Because any direct connection would cost too much to add to be economical when most cars will never tow.

That doesn't happen.

For several years now, all towbars fitted to cars built since then must be type approved, which means (among other things) they must be fitted using manufacturer built in mounting points.

You will find it *is* listed as such.

Turn round the words "don't often", and you would be right.

Conor, you really do spout some tripe and I see that you persist even though you've been shown to...

It might seem a subtle difference, but there is a big difference between "don't often" and "often don't"

Most modern ones do.

his statement that all do is ridiculous.

And?

First, your artic trailer carries *far* larger loads, so *need* far better brakes.

By "recently", you mean quite a few years ago.

Many of your observations apply only to caravans built at least 20 years ago.

I think all caravans built since the mid 80's have automatic reversing locks. Certainly both the last two I have owned have done. (And my current van was built in 1991, the previous one was early 80's).

And there is no point in brakes that will do more than lock the wheels. The push-activate brakes on most modern caravans will do that on such a light vehicle. -- Alex Heney, Global Villager Puns are bad, but poetry is verse. To reply by email, my address is alexATheneyDOTplusDOTcom
