Conor, you really do spout some tripe and I see that you persist even though you've been shown to exaggerate wildly. Your words referenced below again show that you're pontificating about things about which you know little!

Here is some news out today where a stupid lorry driver let his vehicle run away smashing it...

Because all such systems currently available are unlawful for M1 vehicles.

You don't and again you're spouting tripe. For type-approved vehicles, the towbar must be affixed to mounting points that the vehicle manufacturer specified. So in all type-approved vehicles, the mounting points are provided by the manufacturer. FYI, even before type-approval, many manufacturers fitted mounting points.

Two points here: a. Nose-weight does not apply to the towing vehicles, it applies to the trailers. I suspect that you mean maximum permitted hitch load, which in service will be the nose-weight of the trailer plus the weight of any towbar-mounted accessories (such as a cycle carrier). If you did mean nose-weight, that must by law be stated on the VIN plate of the trailer. b. The maximum hitch load is specified for all type-approved towbars. So even if the manufacturer does not tell you the maximum load in the specification of his product he has told the testers, who have used that data during approval tests.

IOW, contrary to your BS, both the nose-weight and maximum hitch load are specified.
