Don't be an arse, Chief Constables do not get involved in the day to day operation of traffic safety checks. They establish policy. The people that do deal with traffic on a daily basis are the traffic sergeant and his inspector.

Anyhow, laugh this off:

"The Tyre Industry Council (TIC? has issued important advice to owners of trailer caravans to check both tyre pressure and tread depth before setting off on this year's summer holiday. The advice follows disturbing results from a roadside tyre check held recently where over 80% of caravan tyres examined were incorrectly inflated, some by as much as 16 psi. The caravan checks were undertaken by North Yorkshire Police, supported by experts from the TIC"

Wiltshire police report that of 55 private vehicles towing caravans or trailers 13 were issued with penalty notices and two were so severely overloaded that they were prohibited from moving on. All of the rest were given safety advice regarding distribution of weight in their tow vehicles and trailers, and also advice regarding the securing of trailer break away cables.

Are you an American?
