I try not to make exceptions to signalling turns and lane changes because I don't want to be in the habit of not doing it. Also, I think making judgments about when I'll let others know of my intentions to change lanes or turn are unnecessary and can be incorrect; why not always let people know?
I'm sure some drivers don't signal some lane changes and turns because they think others "don't need to know" or whatever. I guess I'm not a fan of "need to know basis" signalling because lots of times other people underestimate my need to know... ;-)
Sure. And opposing traffic doesn't know if you're in a dual purpose lane or not... like I said, there's LOTS of these kinds of lanes these days, why be ambiguous about it?
Oh I try as well, though I'm sure you'll agree this isn't always easy. Lotsa cell phone talkers and daydreamers and hundred-yard-stare types out there... I don't squeeze by cars on the right either, I was referring to crossing in front of cars that have the option of right on red.
Well, if I haven't prevailed upon you yet in this thread, then I won't waste any more words... ;-)
