Using the wrong lane

To be fair it may require a bit of local knowledge, the road markings may be covered by vehicles and you didn't say whether the lane procedure was clearly outlined, e.g. with those little green signs. Some drivers may realise they are in the wrong lane and just think sod it, or they may be blissfully unaware of their actions. Having said that being a logical person, I would buttume the layout was as you described.

If you have to leave on the M11 anyway then straight up the A1 is probably sensible. Just make sure you get north of Blyth before the afternoon rush hour, otherwise you are going to...

I've witnessed some drivers taking the 1st exit from the middle lane, could be interesting when the person in the left lane wants to take the 2nd exit and they cross paths...

On a similiar theme, today I was almost put in an awkward situation by a guy on a large island. He was in the 3rd lane and from his actions its clear he knew he was in the wrong lane for his exit, he should have been in the 1st or 2nd lanes, he made this clear by attempting to drive into my path in the 2nd lane, he swerved towards my lane and then back out. Since I was wasn't going very fast, approaching a red-light part-way round the island, I decided to come to a halt earlier and let him take the exit. In his haste as he flashed by in front of me he scuffed the kerb that seperates the entrance and exit of this exit and I could hear is alloys screeching.

On this large island I always get people who insist on changing lanes at the last minute. Best one was a woman who atleast signalled her intentions, moved out in front of me which would have allowed her to take her desired exit onto the DC in the right-land lane, except she felt it might have been safer to move into the left lane in the same lane change manouvre and almost gave a BMW a new face.
