I dunno, I have always felt "loud pipes save lives". Nice to know the idiot in the car near me can HEAR me coming since he is obviously too busy stuffing his pie hole with McDonalds or too busy yapping on his cell phone to SEE me approaching him.
Good example, I was driving in my car with my wife the other day in the let lane in a large metro area. My wife asked me "what kind of motorcylce is that?" gesturing out her side window which by the way was half open. To my surprise when I looked over there was in fact a bike right on my right rear quater! I honestly had NO idea he was there! Had he had decent pipes on his bike, is presence would have been surely noticed noted right away, and no, I was not eating or yapping on a cell phone. Guy literally appeared from nowhere.
No doubt loud pipes are a GOOD thing.
By the way, loud pipes here are NOT a moving violation therefore, no points go against the drivers license. $30 or $40 fine, no big deal.
