There is going to be a vote in Congress on HR418 - Real ID Act this week. One of the provisions in the bill is a mandate that states must participate in the Driver License Agreement (DLA) as put forth by the American buttociation of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). This is the sharing of driver license data including your personal information like Social Security Number (SS#) which is required by the Federal Gov't to be collected when you get your Driver's License.
Unknown to many people and Congress is this sharing of data with Mexico and Canada since the AAMVA setup the DLA to where the Mexican States and Canadian Provinces can sign on and have access to that data. This is very dangerous.
Two problems with the DLA. First, is the sharing of information within North America and the access to it. Second, the DLA affects you to where if you get a traffic ticket anywhere within North America, the ticket will show up at home with points towards license suspension. It doesn't matter if you get a ticket in Whitehorse, Yukon; St. John, Newfoundland; Cancun, Mexico; or Acapulco, Mexico. That ticket will show up at home. BTW, there is no due process rights in Mexico for a traffic ticket and even bribes are getting rarer.
Please contact Congress and tell them no on the Driver License Agreement which is Section 203 of HR418. Mention this would link Mexico and Canada on our driver license databases. Please raise this especially with the Democrat Congressman.
This is the original legislation that was removed from the Intel legislation last year.
