DC is just shakedown city. The "Ask The Chief" program on WTOP yesterday had the Chief of Police fielding questions statements from people such as the tow truck driver who had towed the guy from out of state after a rear-ender on an otherwise straight road. The traffic normally runs around 55, the limit is 35, and all the locals know where the speed camera is. At that point, they jam on the brakes, and the guy from out of state nails some local in the rear. Someone else complained about the red light cameras for the same reason, and the cop comes back and said that the yellow light was set at the speed limit (not the prevailing traffic speed...) and that you should slow down even from 35 mph in case the light goes yellow so you can stop, nevermind the guy behind you that doesn't expect that and nails you in the rear. He gave the standard cop-speak, "Its all your fault" line of malarky, disregarding the fact that a lot of accidents wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the cameras being there.

They even discussed the 0.03 alcohol arrest, and the Chief actually speculated that it would be tourist dissolution to be enforcing that across the board. Wow - some lucidity - I'm shocked. But they shouldn't have been hbuttling this Bolton lady in the 1st place.
Yeah, come to DC and see the sights. Just don't drive when you get there.
