Well, road safety is now so good that the only dangerous thing you can do in a car is speed, apparently. At least, I buttume that's why they've taken away all the patrol cars and put up all the pretty yellow boxes.
Seriously, though, I think I can beat all of your examples. Recently I had to drive slowly, probably under 10 mph, for a whole 200m or so, with three vehicles behind me. It was a road heading out from the very centre of town, built up almost to the edge of the road on either side, and I was following cyclists two abreast, on a long right-hander with poor view due to buildings and street furniture, approaching traffic lights with a central island; in other words, overtaking wasn't even physically possible until we were clear of the lights, never mind safe.
When I finally overtook the cyclists after what seemed like an eternity but was really only a few seconds, the 4x4 behind me drove up my tailpipe to the next roundabout, at which car #3 peeled off, blasting his horn.
As he did so, car #2 overtook both me and the 4x4 around the outside, cutting us up to take the same exit we were. He then proceeded to drive at exactly the same 30mph as me for half a mile, before pulling over to drop off his pbuttengers...
I proceeded up to the roundabout, taking the right-hand of two lanes (marked for straight on -- where I was going -- and right) as Mr 4x4 pulls up in the left-hand lane. Between there and when he finally left the roundabout (at the third exit, turning right) he crossed a total of four marked lanes, pbutted through one red and one amber light, and cut up not only me but at least two other cars who were also in the correct lane as well.
All this aggro, just for crawling behind a couple of slow cyclists for maybe 200m until it was safe (and indeed physically possible) to pbutt them without literally ramming at least one of them off the road!
The really sad thing is that the route in question is often travelled by the local plod on their way to the nearby cop shop, but of course we managed to go down the road during the only two-minute period in the whole day when there wasn't at traffic car anywhere along the route. Or they could have ditched the few traffic cars they had left, I suppose.
There, I feel much better now. ;-)
Impatients in repmobilesTime for me to go off on a bit of a rant ;) I was driving down the M1 on Sunday after a hard day of exercise...
