I'm not actually sure myself whether it was a reaction to being overtaken or something entirely unconnected which caused the later 'performance'.
1, 2 and 3 had been driven in a tight convoy throughout the 30mph, at less than the limit - much tighter than I would drive, except when in the brief final stage of preparation to overtake.
What a p*****k 8On Wed, 22 Mar 2006 14:57:57 -0000, "Brimstone" "gobbing off" "shut the f*** up" Hmm.. Of what? To "shut the f*** up...
When the 50mph SC appeared, 3 dropped back a good way further than was necessary for a safe gap, whilst 2 continued to drive with almost no gap. The crawl continued now at slightly over 30mph, so as soon as the opportunity presented itself to overtake 3 - I took it. As there was no gap between 1 and 2, I held back on the chance that 2 might just be intending to overtake 1. My buttumption was that 3 had dropped back to provide room for me to overtake, after all he seemed to not be in any hurry at that point. I didn't cut him up and he certainly didn't try to close the gap during my manouver, I just pulled very gently back into the gap at the forward end of the gap he had created. So absolutely no reason for him to be annoyed.
Having got safely past 3, I started looking for an opportunity to get past 1 and 2, but none came up due to on coming traffic - before the large and wide two laned roundabout 3-4 of a mile further on.
1 and 2 both indicated right and took L2, I took L1 throughout and gently drifted past them both to go straight on. 3 followed me in L1 until he had just cleared 2 and 3, then I heard a scream of tyres as he at the last minute swerved to pulled out to overtake me, then another scream of tyres as he cut me up trying to squeeze back in to the single lane exit from the roundabout, the start of the country lane.
