What are speed limits for

Lawtears

There's a couple of odd changes been made in Livingston (kinda halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow for those of you not from The Land Of The Ned).

Appleton Parkway (a single carriageway joining 2 industrial estates so no houses or kiddies to be seen) has been raised from 30 to 40. Granted, there's a rather sharp bend which is better taken at 30 than 40, so presumably this means the locals will (gasp!) have to work out this 'bend radius safe cornering speed' thing for themselves.

There's also the strange case of the A899 which is a dual-carriageway joining the North and South ends of the town. The council have recently been arsing around with this, replacing the cloverleaf junctions with various weird hybrid roundabouts on the roads crossing underneath (don't ask, just point the car at the sign that has your destination on it and try not to hit anything). Get this though: they've named the road 'Livingston Expressway'... and reduced the limit from 70 to 50. FFS Why?! The road is still the same, the sightlines haven't changed!

Is there anyone on this ng from the Livingston area, or has to drive through it who can come up with any ideas?

speed on Using cruise control doesn't mandate that you don't change your speed at all - I guess what I meant was when changing lanes you learn to plan when and where you are...
