What does "commuting" actually mean on insurance cover 5361

JD

As courts are geared up to protect the big guys rather than the little fella's, we both know I wouldn't stand a hope in hells chance of arguing it in a court of law.

If I had two options though:

a) Stand in court, tell court I was just out for a drive and get my car fixed.

or

How do I value this
Back in 1988 my wife bought new a Lancia Delta HF Integrale (8-valve). This was a fantastic car; fast, great fun to drive, ultra-reliable. In short, a pleasure...

b) Stand in court, tell court I am covered to go to and from a place of work, but that day I was on a course and didn't phone my insurers to ask their permission the day before. I'm not interested in having my car fixed, and can the insurers just keep a hold of the money and I'll pay to fix it myself.

I'd pick the second, no contest.

If you pick the first option, that's fine.

However I imagine the sort of person that would, is the sort of person that would appear on Usenet the same week saying "Damn it, I pay my insurance, had an accident told the truth and it got me no-where! If only I'd told a little white lie, but I can't now because they've taken my first story!"

Looking for first car
As others have said, look at unpopular cars in basic spec, in good condition. Getting something cheap is a great idea, not just for...

How much time do I set aside for asking them?

MG Rover
You have to feel sorry for all the people who work at MG Rover and indeed all the suppliers to them, there future is...

Shall I call them 3 times and take the two answers that match, or should I call 5 times and take the best 3? Perhaps if I wanted to be really sure I should call them on 9 seperate occasions just to see if it's okay I can drive my car to a course that morning?

I'd have thought that one call should be enough, but in my own experience it wasn't. What if it was this guy I'd spoken to that morning to ask if I was covered to drive somewhere. He tells me yes, but I'm not. I have no comeback at all, as all the company will say is "Sorry sir, you were mis-advised" or "Well, do you have the name and inner-leg size of the guy you spoke to?"
