I like the way that you decide that speed limits "are asinine and are not reflective of any real world condition..." while defending KREP and STK Rules as some sort of holly grail. If you decide to ignore rules YOU think are asinine, don't be surprised when other people ignore rules YOU hold as scared.
What exactly is "left lane blocking" 4039It's called *TRAFFIC*. Evidently, you want all traffic to get out of your way. MFFY driving. See above. Why should others obey all rules so you can speed? Isn't that being...
It is a fact that higher speed involve higher risks. Braking distances increase, decision making time decreases, the consequences of a mistake are magnified. Is 70 mph a safe speed on a heavily crowded interstate? I don't know. People in this group constantly proclaim the 85th percentile rule as the holy grail for setting speed limits (despite sketchy evidence that it has any safety relationship). I say, fine apply it and then enforce the heck out of the new "properly" set limits. Until then, if you chose to ignore the current limits, you lose the right to unpleasant woman about people ignoring the rules you champion.
You are promoting the idea that a person should only follow the rules they think are good. Therefore, I'll go along with your thinking - I'll drive in what I consider a safe manner. I won't hang out in the left lane blocking traffic, but I am not going to drive 80 (in a 70) to complete a pbutt either. If you are close enough for me to tell that you will catch me before I can make my pbutt, I'll wait for you to pbutt me, but if I am already pbutting a car when you catch me, don't expect me to take extrodinary actions to clear out of your way. Don't waste your time flashing your lights and riding my bumper, it won't do any good. If for whatever reason, the pbutt starts to drag out (probably becasue the car being pbutted sped up), I'll slow down and drop back in line and let you go. I'd really rather have you get the heck on up the road.
