Heh heh - looks like Aunt Judy reads chi.general. ;)
This story is a prime example of why some states have graduated licensing programs (of which the driver of this vehicle was in violation). We don't allow them to drive late at night (when they're most likely very tired), and we don't allow them to drive around with other kids in the car, because other kids a) cause distrations to the driver, and b) the driver might feel the urge to "show off" to impress his friends in the car.
Apparently no drugs or alcohol were involved in the above crash (if they'd found ANY evidence of either of those, you can be SURE the liberal media would have reported on it), and speeding doesn't cause crashes, so what's left as the probable cause?
Once again we have irresponsible parents who are enablers in an automobile tragedy. Just like the parents who bought their teenaged son a car with more power than he could handle, in this case the parents allowed this boy to drive their car after curfew and with other teens in the car - and in flagrant violation of the law. The story notes that, if the driver is charged (and he certainly ought to be), the parents will have to appear in court with him. IMHO they ought to serve some jail time for allowing their son to kill those two kids.
Mr. and Mrs. Sampsell will no doubt be entering their rebuttal (via carstalk.com) shortly. ;)
